Kitting is the gathering of components and parts needed for the manufacture of a particular assembly or product. Individual components are gathered together, as a kit, and issued to the point of use. Kitting Process in which individually separate but related items are grouped, packaged, and supplied together as one unit.

The supplier then creates a customised kit that is assembled and shipped as one unit.  The term “kitting” is order fulfilment jargon for preassembly of individual items into ready-to-ship kits instead of picking and packing those individual items as orders are received.
